Yay last paper liao due next monday!!! Then i'm FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But den i'm not really "free" in the hols aneway cos got filming assignment n den later got IHG duties.......but wad the heck...........as long as i'm done with the exams..........
Really screwed up tis sem's modules man..........haih guess my mentality was still stuck in the JC era........n dat has really gotten me into trouble tis time...........was at the brink of failing 2 modules..hope dat i sumhow managed to scrap thru the exams n pray dat they let me pass cos they're both core modules n i dun wanna retake em next sem..........i wud kill myself if i have to.........
So........gotta work extra hard for next sem.........cos my senior told me year 1 is the best n easiest time to pull ur cap up.....so i intend to have loads of fun but at the same time start mugging in tis 5 week hols........cos next sem still having 6 modules so its gonna be equally tough..........have to get good CAP next sem lar or i wun even see a second upper honours liao...........haih dats wad i hate most about the cumulative system..........damn it...........
Aneway, in case those of u out there wanna take french 1 next sem (or anytime in the future), here's my experience. Like my senior said, german is easy to learn but the tests r hard. French, on the other hand, is hard to learn but the tests r easier. Notice dat i din use exams cos u onli get periodic tests for french n german n no end of sem exam, which is a good thing cos if u do reasonably well for all ur tests it's highly possible for u to get an A for the module. I did reasonably well for my french tis sem but i still dunno my final grade. I'm praying dat i can get at least an A- if not an A for it cos i really did study and its my fav module for the entire fucking sem. And if i really do get at least an A- for it dat will motivate me to do better for French 2 in sem 2, which i intend to take.
Basically theres a few sections invloved for french --> Oral (which is not easy but theres onli 2 rounds of oral test n the tutor will go easy on u for the 1st round so just practise more for the 2nd wan), comprehension (can score cos u r allowed to copy n paste frm paragraph, just avoid grammatical errors), essay (follow the primary sch rule --> write short n simple sentences, u dun get bonus marks easily tis way but the fact dat u avoided the possiblity of having loads of grammer n spelling errors will probably see u getting 16/20 for it, jusr rmb dat there's a lot of tricks involved with french spelling so just stick to words u're extremelly familiar with, which often ends up as the simplest ones), listening comprehension (the bane of all french students, cos the audio tracks really run fast so sumtimes its really really hard to catch wat they're saying...my onli advice is to prac more on ur own using the multimedia files they provide on IVLE) and 2 quizzes (tis may involve general knowledge about france so just pay attention to wad the lecturers say about france during lectures cos they will def ask the same things they mentioned in the quiz) and grammer (just mug).
It may sound a lot but trust me they spilt it into many different sections over diff timings so its much more handleble as compared to sum other modules u may have now. The impt thing is dat to get good scores u really need to make the effort to prac, cos tis is 1 module in which u really can score n thus pull up ur CAP if u mug. Its all simple questions (normally) in the tests so just score those dat r within ur control (listening compre n oral r wad i refer to as being out of ur control) and prac more wif the rest.
Ultimately i intend to go on the exchange programme to france dats y im taking french at least till french 2. Den if next year my workload is not too heavy n i did reasonably well for french 2 den i'll consider french 3, cos by then veri few ppl will continue already.
Gonna sleep now! Bb!!
Oh yah btw 11/05 listen up we r planning to have class outing next sat hor i will sms u guys to confirm soon! :)
