Karaoke session with Yuziang, Kian Siong and Xin Hui at Katong before an immensely satisfying dinner at Ajisen Ramen at Parkway Parade.... It has gotta be aeons since I've last been to PP......and surprisingly things haven really changed much. The best thing that happened to PP is that now they have Borders lol....
Sunday was spent entirely at the Zoo...! My 6th visit to the Spore Zoo, in fact. It was fun, spent with the 9th Tech Crew juniors, though the weather was hot as usual.
Extracted 3 teeth ytd....and surprisingly, it was so much more less painful than I imagined it to be... The dentist was prodding around with the needle initially cos he was finding it a hard time getting the anaesthetic intot he correct places... It felt like a series of pricks that hurt jus a little but I wasn't really bothered about that cos I absolutely wanted him to get a smuch anaesthetic in as possible to ensure that I wun feel much later on. Ohhh he did get an xray done prior to the "surgery" and i was finally able to see just what the problem was...
Anyway, after that it was a whole series of drilling (I was wondering wad wud happen if he slipped and the drill went towards my lips instead.....o.O), jerking, plucking, heaving, and twisting while the nurses constantly suck out the saliva and blood.... Seriously, I felt only a bit of discomfort... I did whine a little at the beginning cos I didn't really noe to what extent did he mean by pain when he was asking me "Do you feel any pain?"....... But then later on I realised it was more of numbness and pressure rather than pain, so with my eyes shut tight, hands firmly pulling on my shorts, and 15 minutes later, voila! The blocking tooth was drilled into 4 pieces and extracted while the wisdom tooth took slightly less time to be taken out.
Next was the one on top. I did both bottom and top on the left first since those were bothering me the most... The top one was super fast. He just injected the anaesthetic, left it to work its magic for a few minutes, then with a firm grip and a quick twist, it was out in less than 20 seconds...! Super duper fast... He then proceeded to stitch up my lower gum and then it was over...
The troublesome part about extracting wisdom tooth is always the aftermath..... Cos that's when the pain starts kicking in when the painkillers and anaesthecia wears off... And the constant bleeding that wun seem to stop and the annoying numbness.... The swelling only kicks in the next day, but that's where the pills come into the picture. Antibiotics, painkillers and an additional one for the swelling.... You can't really notice the swelling from the outside (or probably because my face is already "puffy" to begin with) but the swelling is EXTREMELY OBVIOUS when I looked at the mirror and opened my mouth. It's like the entire gum on the elft side of the cheek is one huge mass of.......gum. Super huge...
Anyway, haven been eating much, so I'm freaking hungry right now......

Arghhhh......despite "knowing" that the movie was gonna be sucky, I still went ahead to watch it..... Cos, well.... I'm a sucker for science fiction stuff, especially when it features fighting scenes kung fu-style, or anything related to martial arts for that matter.....
Plus, the trailer was kinda good (as with MANY other movies which inevitably fall under the don't-pay-for-a-cinema-ticket-for-this-F-Grade-shit category...) and I "convinced" myself that maybe I'll like it even when others didn't.....
Arghhhh I was delusional, I'm sure.....
The starting was pretty ok....they built up the atmosphere quite well, plus I like how Gianna look in the movie. But then. when it sorta reached this climax featuring the longest fighting scene in the entire movie, where Saya (the vampire slayer - Gianna) was fighting all those "demons" who simply look like a bunch of ppl going for a halloween party, I was going "WTF??!!" THROUGHOUT the entire scene...... I mean, really....WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!
And they had the balls to employ the same person who choreographed the fighting scenes in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon...... I mean, that blurdy fighting scene was barely WATCHABLE.... It was simply HACK.SLASH.HACK.SLASH.FUGLY-LOOKING BLOOD SPURTING OUT.HACK.SLASH.HACK.SLASH............ Plus their continual use of fast-forwarding and slow-motion annoys the heck out of me.... The minute you wanna pay attention to the fighting style, they go fast forward.... Then slow mo when blood spurts out.... Repeat that for about 10 to 15 minutes and you see what I mean when I say that scene ANNOYED THE HECK OUT OF ME.....
I actually prefered the fighting scene between Kato (the shifu) and the bad guys.... It reminded me SLIGHTLY of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.... Or the other movie featuring Andy Lau, Takeshiro (ahhh wad's his full name.... I can only remember the chinese one... Jing Cheng Wu) and Zhang Ziyi... I think the movie's called Flying Daggers or sth liddat..... The chinese name for that movie is Shi Mian Mai Fu.
And after all that ranting, I haven even gotten to the worst part.... Their fully transformed "demons" look more like the offspring between a hobbit and a lycan (from the Underworld series) with wings rather than proper demons, which was supposed to be integral for the movie, isn't it...? I mean, the whole movie was about fighting demons, AND YOU CAN'T EVEN MAKE SURE YOU GET THEM RIGHT???!!!

I do like the japanese actress acting as Onigen though... She acts her part well, but her english is atrocious..... I dun understand why they can't just let her speak in Japanese and put in subtitles..... She IS Japanese afterall...... Gianaa's korean, but her first few speeches at the beginning was perfectly alright. But towards the end, the funny accent starts showing, but I'm not faulting her on that since it's never gonna be easy pronuncing a foreign language perfectly when you've only been learning it for a while..... I had the same experience with French....
Overall, the movie was pretty crappy.... I was already having the gut feeling about the "revelation" that came through at the end of the movie after barely sitting thru a quarter of it.... So there were really NO SURPRISES left... Couple that with EXTREMELY crappy CGI and sucky fighting scenes...... Ahhhhhhhh well you get what I mean....
But it was fun still cos I met up with Eugene, Bih Guok and Wong at Citysquare for lunch before the movie. And producing my NUS matric card got me the student price for the ticket too so it was only a RM6 crappy affair at the cinemas, which doesn't hurt as much as compared to if I were to watch it in Spore... :D

The first Korean singer I fell in love with was Lena Park. She happened to be promoting her 4th album in Singapore at that time and appeared on a variety show on channel 8. Well, it was not entirely a coincidence that I was watching that show on that night itself...cos her album was advertised on channel 8 too and I was very impressed with her songs. Her live performance on dat show was equally breathtaking, and that 4th album of hers remains to be one of my all time fav albums ever.
Lately, I've been listening to A LOT of K Pop, and I really mean A LOT.... Cos there really isn't dat many new songs coming out from the english or chinese music industry, and I'm kinda bored with wadever songs I already have in my collection, all 16 GB of them... So, since I was watching Boys Over Flowers and really enjoyed one of the songs in dat series, I started to pay more attention to Korean songs instead...
There were/are many bands from the Korean music industry... You've probably heard of the Wondergirls by now, with their addictive and widespread "Nobody" parodied/emulated all over youtube. FYI, they're releasing an english version of dat song soon I think.... They're preparing to enter the US market like BoA and Se7en did...tho I dun see much success from the both of them.... Hopefully they'll do better... Then there are bands dat are huge in Asia like DBSK, Big Bang and Super Junior...and newers ones like SHINee, 2NE1, Girls Generation, After School, 2AM, 2PM, KARA, and the upcoming 4Minute.... So many bands.... o.O
But then, I came across this Korean singer one day and was totally blown away.... She's a renowned singer in Korea known for her love ballads, and I just can't stop listening to her songs..!!! I mean, her voice is unique like Lena Park's, but she has this way of singing that reminds me of old old chinese songs lol....but in a VERY good way....
She seldom appears in her MVs, and most of her MVs tell a sad love story - typical korean drama type, yes I know....but who cares? Her voice alone is enough to compensate for all other things found lacking with the MVs.
Ahhhhhhh...... I am so in love with her voice right now.....

Sushi Buffet at Miramax Hotel (I think...) near Chinatown. Finally met up with Jia Yi and Arlene after soooooooooooooooo long....
The buffet was pretty good and I enjoyed it. Price was normal bah, pretty much the same as Hanabi. Kah Sing and Jia Yi had to leave slightly earlier cos of prior engagements, but for the rest of us, we stayed till 2.30pm when the shop closes. It was pretty much a catching up session coupled with loads of gossping as usual, but it was nice to be able to meet some of them after not seeing each other for so long. :)
After that, Aga had to go too cos she wanted to buy shoes I think. Plus she just extracted her wisdom tooth (which only reminded me that I have yet to remove mine....) so she didn't really wanna go Kbox. Me Arlene and Ozy den headed off to Chinatown to search for Partyworld and ended up singing frm 3 till 7pm...... Damn long never sing le.... It was fun :D Especially when Arlene and Ozy started singing a Hindi song at the end.....!!! I think I'll upload the videos soon :D
Got back my results for the module mapping of my exchange trip. Good news is 4 out of 5 modules were approved. So for the only one dat didn't get thru, I need to submit another form to get it approved.... And dat blurdy senior I emailed din bother to reply me... Knn.... But anyway, even if I'm only gonna do 4 mods there, I'm happy le. I'll try to get the last one approved too but we'll see how things go...

How do you maintain so many friendships...? I mean, thruout the course of your life, you're bound to come across many MANY frens....but then just like how you meet so many of them, you're bound to end up missing a lot of them as you proceed on with your life... You're bound to start a new routine after passing thru different phases of your life and end up not being in close proximity with em like before... And by then, the only strand of thread left to support your friendship is the amount of time and effort you are willing to put into maintaining it....
For me, a bit difficult lar... Cos whenever there's a holiday, I have to come back to JB, but most of my frens are in Singapore. Couple dat wif the fact dat I hate travelling thru the custom and causeways because of the hassle and you get the idea.....
Aneway, this may seem very familiar, but once in a while you receive an sms/msn from a fren whom you haven spoken to in a very long time, not because you were too busy but mainly because you weren't that close to him/her in the first place or you may not like him/her very much right from the beginning.... And just when you start having this sinking feeling that he/her is just contacting you for help, their 2nd or 3rd sentence will normally prove you correct....
Life's not very fulfilling right now... I dunno what I want, or what I wanna do... And the things I do know I want, I dun have enuf determination to see it thru, esp when I like to the results in the shortest time possible....
Haih....

Friday 2 to 4pm badminton with Xiao J, Aga, Zhi Yong and Mathias. Before that, I met up with Mathias to visit his new house 1st and it was so much bigger than I tot!! Especially looking from the outside, you wud have imagined it was just a terrace but it was in fact a semi-d with lots of space to boot! Badminton was fun but omygodly sauna-ish hot..... Took a 1 hour and 40 minute bus ride back from tampines all the way to kent ridge terminal and then str8 away switched bus to meet Dennis, Mag and Anthony at Botak Jones for dinner...and sadly, it appears that I failed to learn from past experiences when I naively ordered fish and chips LARGE..... I ended up finishing only 1 piece of fish and half the fries......
After dinner, it was back to hall with a quick shower and then Rachel came and pick me up for a supper rendezvous. We met up with Christopher and James at TCC (Orchard) and it was a fun nite of idle chatting and ample gossiping, though the only thing that ruined the almost perfect nite was the bloody weather.... After idling for almost 2 hours, we were debating where to go next tho I was yawning away cos it's been such a long day for me... We ended up eating tau huey at Seligi before I took a cab back to hall. Dennis was so nice to offer me his bed while he slept on the floor lol....
Morning came and it was room allocation....and it was so much more complicated cos of various reasons.... In the end, the group of us managed to all get rooms at A3 so there'll be ample company nex sem onwards!!! Sadly sum of the final year seniors who have been staying at A1 all these years cudn't get back their rooms since all of a sudden, many other Year 2 and 3 seniors decided to move to block A and thus the senior quota was filled very quickly...
Aneway, it was a nice lunch at Thai Express at WCP with Ming Jun, Ashwin, Wei Cheng, Dennis, Mag, Steve and Chuang Ning after room allo. Then MJ was kind enuf to send me to Clementi MRT before I underwent the arduos journey of returning to JB....the queue at the custom for the buses were sickeningly frightening.....but sumhow I managed to cut queue which saved me like an extra 45 minutes jus to wait for the buses....
Holidays are still a long stretch more to go...let's hope I survive the whole thing o.O

Finally completed my module mapping for my exchange trip, and the whole process was freaking frustrating.....
1stly, the website for Lund University comes in both English and Swedish, but some pages are only available in Swedish, so I have absolutely no idea what the content on those pages are....
2ndly, the modules available for Semester 2 that can be mapped to my core modules at NUS are like SEVERELY limited.... Semester 1 has so many more options!! Plus the worse is I can't just use whatever past seniors have mapped cos some modules dun seem to be available anymore!! And those that are left just HAPPENED to be Master's modules...... Ughhh...... How am I supposed to cope...?!
3rdly, I dun really noe if I shud map all core modules over or try and balance things out wif sum UEMs (Unrestricted Elective Modules).... Cos UEM can slack a bit...but core mods you absolutely need to make sure you passed..... In the end, I mapped 4 core and 1 UEM (3 Higher Technical Electives, 1 Technical Elective and 1 UEM - Swedish for Exchange Students). I dun really noe if I'm gonna die for it considering that if my study plan DOES get approved, it means I'll be completing all 3 of my HIGHER ELECTIVES during my exchange trip, all 3 of which are Master's level modules...... Arghhhhh.....
Plus I dun even noe if the swedish course will be available in Semester 2....cos they only mentioned on the website that it'll be available in Sem 1 and didn't provide any more info regarding the module's availability in Sem 2..... Haihhhhh..........
Anyway, I found out that there's a senior frm my faculty who also went to Lund last year, and during Sem 2 too!! So I emailed him to ask about his module mapping... Hopefully he checks his NUSmail very often and can reply me soon....
In any case, let's just hope i can get at least 3 out of 5 mapped modules approved in the 1st round..... I noe 2 of them should be alright since past seniors have mapped those 2 before....but the rest, well they're like UNKNOWNS...... I had to dig deep into the website to get to those modules, and I dun even noe if they're more suited to Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering.... The only thing I know is that all 3 of my higher technical electives are related to water.... Well considering that I got A for Water Science last sem, I think they should be alright...right..? Eh wait, last last sem I think I got B- or C+ for Hydraulics leh.... Ahhhhh shit.....
Heading over to Spore tmr. Shud be going back to hall first to put my stuff in Dennis' room, then head out to meet the rest at Tampines for badminton. Then spend the nite in hall, and on Saturday, it's room allocation le. Monday, my relatives from Malacca will be coming down, so at least there'll be some things to do by then. :D

To Mathias: I watched Pride and Prejudice before! :D Really enjoyed it, but like the critics, I too felt that Keira was too pretty in the movie lol...even tho I have yet to read the book, but apparently she was supposed to be plain looking haha... I have the soundtrack too, which I assure you is simply amazing...one of the best instrumental soundtracks from a movie I have ever come across... Esp the song they played when Liz was standing all alone on top of a cliff.... I think that track was aptly named "Liz On Top of the World". You can look it up on youtube if I'm not mistaken. IT.WILL.BLOW.YOU.AWAY. :D
Aneway, you can try watching another movie by Keira too...different settings but they kinda feel similar to me for a reason...probably because of Keira Knightly.... I think the movie's called "Atonement". Its soundtrack is extremely beautiful too. :) And it's also kinda like another classical love story, but with a sad ending.
Sien....up till now haven got my module mapping done yet....KNN......I'm kinda running out of time le...die....
I feel damn fat....like seriously, damn fat.... But it's the holidays..!! I have to put up with yucky, oily, salty, laosy hall food for the entire semester and finally the holidays are here and you expect me to restrict my diet..??!! WTF...... So no.....NO NO NO NO NO.... I will still eat whatever I want.....but nex time if I'm hanging out wif you guys, remember to remind me to watch the amount I eat....at least I can have some sort of control over that....
I hope Federer doesn't lose....he already lost the first 2 sets to Haas.....haih....sad case....Nadal and Djokovic both crashed out liao....and now he's on the brink too....wad's goin on sia....sekali in the end Murray wins the event.... o.O
Aneway, if aneone's interested in watching K dramas, watch Boys Over Flowers.... It's the korean version of Meteor Garden, with their own version of F4, whom in my opinion looks better than their Taiwanese and Japanese counterparts....but according to my big bro, the Jap version of the drama remains the best.... Haven watched the jap one before, but I dun like the actor who acted as Dao Ming Si....I liked some of his other dramas but I jus hated him as Dao Ming Si....that hairdo....ughhh..... The korean F4 at the very least all look good, and their version of Hua Ze Lei is really good too....but then when his hair became short halfway thru the drama, I suddenly found his face resembling.......a skeleton. Ya he is like damn thin.....
And something keeps on bothering me....how come all these singers/actors all have PERFECT teeth de...? You dun get born wif such teeth lar come on.....all went to wear braces meh...? And PERFECTLY white summore..... Ishhh.....
Aneway, from the korean version of the drama, I found a song I really like :D
